A variety of water types for adventurous anglers
With hundreds of miles of rivers and streams and over 1,300 lakes, Pinedale, Wyoming is an ideal place for any avid fisherman looking for a memorable experience (and trophy trout).
The Pinedale area is a fishing paradise for the novice and experienced fisherman alike. A majority of the fishing offers opportunities for cold water trout species such as the native Colorado cutthroat, brown trout, golden trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, lake trout, and mountain whitefish.
The Green & New Fork Rivers
The Green and New Fork Rivers are the two primary rivers in the Pinedale area and are popular for drift boat fishing, stream fishing, as well as casting in from the bank. The larger of the two, Green River, begins in the northern Wind River Range. The upper portion of the river is on Bridger-Teton National Forest land which has miles of public access along the banks. However, once leaving this area, much of the Green River flows through private land as well as through the towns Big Piney and Daniel, and it is up to the fisherman to ask permission for fishing opportunities from the land owners along the area.
The New Fork River originates at New Fork Lakes, flowing past Cora, Pinedale and Boulder to join the Green River northeast of Big Piney. Although it is approximately a third the size of Green River, the New Fork still offers many opportunities to catch big fish and enjoy a challenging fight.
Fishing High Elevation Backcountry Lakes
For those who enjoy combining fishing with backpacking or horseback riding, some of the most enjoyable fishing can be found in the numerous 1,300 high-elevation, mountain lakes of the Wind River Range. Anglers willing to make the effort to reach these lakes can experience quality fishing in a peaceful, remote setting of rugged mountain peaks, wildflowers, and wildlife.The Wind River Range's high mountain lakes are home to thousands of lakes and ponds, with an appealing mix of golden, brook, rainbow, and cutthroat trout. Best of all, nowhere else in the world do golden trout grow as big.

Fishing Licenses
Be sure to pick up a Wyoming fishing license and the updated fishing regulations from the Wyoming Game & Fish Department before heading to your destination. For those not familiar with the area, many local outfitters provide fly-fishing lessons, fishing guides and horseback / fishing expeditions.
Kids & Easy Access
Grab the poles and head to the Kid's Fishing Pond at Boyd Skinner Memorial Park, maybe drop a line in Pine Creek at American Legion Park, or load the car up for a drive to the CCC Ponds Recreation Area just below Fremont Lake. All these are convenient, perfect places for kids to cast in a line in while the family picnics and relaxes. The CCC Ponds has handicapped access for shoreline fishing and is an excellent spot to go if you are limited on time. American Legion Park and the CCC Ponds offer handicapped accessible restrooms and a large parking lot that can accommodate daytime RV parking.
