Popular Events
Wind River Brew Fest
Some of the most recognized names in the Rocky Mountain craft brewing scene gather in Pinedale for the annual Wind River Brew Fest each September. Pinedale’s own Wind River Brewing Company hosts this autumnal kick-off event.
With live music, a variety of food vendors and other activities taking place (run the Beer Mile at your own risk), you can help Pinedale’s newest fall event continue to become one of its most popular.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor, you can pre-purchase tickets for this sell-out event, and use your commemorative cup to sample a number of hand-crafted, award-winning brews. You can even cast your vote for the Wind River Brew Fest People’s Choice Award!
Green River Rendezvous
For four exciting days in mid-July, Pinedale honors the mountain men, explorers and Native Americans of this historical area with the annual Green River Rendezvous. The Rocky Mountain Fur Trade of the early 1800s brought trappers and explorers to the Green River Valley, and mountain men like Jim Bridger forged the path for the pioneer caravans of the Oregon Trail.
You can celebrate these early explorers’ impact on the history of westward expansion in the United States at the Rendezvous. From Museum of the Mountain Man activities to a show-stopping parade, to historical re-enactments and nightly rodeos, you’ll be happy to know those cultural events are in high supply … and so is the beer.
Soundcheck Summer Music Series
Pinedale Fine Arts Council’s Soundcheck Concert Series has been a summertime staple for over a decade. Spanning across three months, you don’t want to miss these free, open-to-the-public concerts.
Enjoy craft beer and a variety of food vendors while gathering with locals to listen to resident and touring musicians on an open-air stage in the park. The combined scenic location and incredible music becomes the perfect summer soundtrack.
Other Events
Surly Pika Adventure Race
Do you have what it takes to win the annual Surly Pika, a wily team adventure race in the Wind River Range's front-country?
With a 6- and 12-hour division, racers (“pikas”) navigate a variety of terrain at high elevations via foot, mountain bike and boat with only a map and compass to guide their way. From pool floaties and popsicles to 2000-foot climbs and ice-cold glacier water, you must be burly to win the surly.
Pinedale Half Marathon
Known for its rugged mountain terrain and gorgeous scenery, Pinedale opens its arms to runners each September for the Pinedale Half Marathon, 10K and 1-mile race.
If you're running, you start in downtown Pinedale and make your way to the banks of scenic Fremont Lake before finishing the day with a free community BBQ. Open to all ages and abilities, this event is family-friendly and fun, welcoming walkers and runners from all over.
Winter Carnival
Bring the whole family to Pinedale's Winter Carnival in February. This rowdy, multi-day event brings visitors and locals together for events like the skijoring competition—a wily western experience you have to see to believe.
Brave competitors put their engineering and art skills to the test for the chaotic Cardboard Classic sled race and the new Snow King and Queen reign at the Snow Ball, where you can enjoy live music and award-winning craft brews.
The Drift Winter Ultra Marathon
“WANTED: Men and women for hazardous journey. No wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. SAFE RETURN DOUBTFUL. Honour and recognition in event of success.”
The Drift is the highest elevation winter ultramarathon in the United States. Racers battle extreme elements and elevation to run, bike or ski the 13-, 28- or 100-mile courses in the upper Green River valley, usually in a blizzard. Are you brave enough?
