Skyline Drive Description

The drive begins at US Highway 191 in Pinedale to Fremont Lake Road and continues up Skyline Drive to Elkhart Park. Closer to the top, you'll capture spectacular views of Wyoming's third highest summit, Fremont Peak at 13,745 feet. As you stand roadside, you will feel like you hiked in for miles and miles to see the three dimensional scenes of the Wind River Range's jagged mountain tops. For those in RVs and buses, there is an excellent turn around at Elkhart Park.

Winter Note:
Keep in mind, come late December, the scenic drive ends closely after White Pine Ski Area. From that point the drive is unplowed and is accessible only by cross county ski or snowshoe. If you are traveling this tour in May through October, it's recommended to take an hour stop at the Museum of the Mountain Man to learn about the Rocky Mountain Fur Trade era that opened commerce in the American West.
