Trailhead with access to Cirque of the Towers and wilderness in southern Wind River Range. High use in July and August with limited parking. Public corrals, camping, fishing, hiking. Tent pads and some trailer pull throughs. No drinking water or refuse containers. No phone or power. Trailhead inaccessible during winter months due to snow. Fee campground with 56 units along 11-mile long Fremont Lake. Sites are situated in stands of douglas fir, juniper and aspen. Most sites offer a view of this large, pristine lake. Group picnic sites available for day use. Paved road access, 7400' elevation. Boating, water skiing, fishing, hiking, ORV, swimming, hiking. Drinking water available. Refuse containers, fire grates, picnic tables, paved trailer pads, some pull through sites, some tent pads, vault toilets. Beaches along some sections of lakeshore. Abundant wildlife. Campground Host. Boat ramp. Use is very high during July and August, and during national and local holidays. No sewer, water or electric hookups for RVs. No showers. No livestock or corrals. Most sites are in forested setting and short walk from lake. Public corrals. Handicapped accessible restrooms. Unimproved boat launch for small craft. No power boats. Medium use, high on national and local holidays. 7800' elevation, 19 units and a nearby fee group area for up to 150 people. Some RV and trailer pull throughs, drinking water, picnic tables, vault toilets, fire grates, refuse containers on site. Campground Host. Boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, picnicking. Public corrals. No power, phone, showers or RV dump. Boat launch, power boats permitted. New Fork Trailhead is located near campground and has a large parking area. Primitive boat launch for small craft. Access with trailers and/or boats will be difficult during wet or snowy weather. Access is via rough gravel/dirt road. Additional undeveloped dispersed camping available along south side of the lake in forest. Access opens around mid-June. 7700' elevation. No power or water. Paved for 11 miles, then gravel road access. Last portion is steep, narrow, windy and rough and doesn't open up until early July. Forested setting by scenic lake. 8500' elevation, 5 units, tents, overnight camping, fishing, hiking, boat ramp for small craft-no power boats. Handicapped facilities available. No Campground Host. Road usually open by July 4th. Trailhead access to Middle Piney Creek, Wyoming Peak and Wyoming Range National Recreation Trail. Road not suited to trailers or large RVs, posted turnaround point. Low clearance vehicles not recommended. Closest services: Big Piney, 26 miles. |
